Who produces Hull Wire?
Hull Wire is produced and maintained by Buzz Media - community media initiatives. Buzz Media is a partner within the United Youth Transforms partnership of children's and youth agencies in East Hull. However, Buzz Media works with all age groups.
Does Buzz Media have its own website?
Yes. See it here: http://www.buzzmedia.org.uk
How can we get content broadcast on Hull Wire?
If you are able to produce your own mp3 audio files, just send them to us: hullwire@buzzmedia.org.uk. Please format your mp3 files as follows:
for voice/speech only audio, bitrate (compression) maximum of 56kbps and sample rate 44.1kHz.
for music, bitrate (compression) maximum of 96kbps and sample rate 44.1kHz.
SAMPLE RATE MUST = 44.1kHz - or your streamed voices might sound like chipmunks!
You can also send us a jpeg file for cover art - 175x175 pixels in size. JPEG ONLY, no .gifs, no .png, etc.
I can't produce my own recordings. How can I get a story/interview/song/item broadcast?
No problem, commission us to lead a production workshop for your community group. We work with schools, youth groups, faith groups, voluntary and community groups - basically any not-for-profit organisation or individual in Hull. Buzz Media staff have enhanced CRB's for your inspection. Creating media is great fun, and very rewarding! Our rates are very reasonable.
I only want a small news item/notice broadcast. Do I have to commission a full workshop?
No, of course not! Send us the text of your item (150 words maximum), and we will get one of our announcers to record it! You can also send us a small jpeg (photo) file that can be used as "coverart".
What sort of content does Hull Wire broadcast?
Firstly, we ONLY work with not-for-profit organisations and individuals. The nature of the content is up to you - news, advice, comment, drama, music, humour, history, reviews - whatever! We do, of course, reserve the right not to broadcast anything that we think will offend, or infringe upon other's rights. Where young people are clearly identified we will insist upon signed parental permission to broadcast. Hull Wire's sole aim is to promote a positive image of community activity in Hull.
How else can I get involved?
The most important thing you can do for us, is to tell others about us! Please make links to us on your own website.
I have a suggestion to make. Do you want to hear it?
Yes, of course we do! Let us know what you think about Hull Wire, and how we can improve it!
